I just got this present from my daughter. Utopia is a genetic condition. My genes all look like an U, and are red and black. I love my daughter. And she loves me (I think  )

something other than profanity and sexual innuendo?

Enjoy!

What about the Bobbsey Twins and the Hardy Boys? Not to forget Nancy Drew...

Two of my favorite Andy Griffith witticisms:

Mayberry is so small that folks went toward town to go hunting.

Mayberry is so small that the zip code is E-I-E-I-O.

the old days weren't that good.

Indeed. For not a few folks, in far too many ways, and far too often, things were terrible.

So when was the Andy Griffith show current? I recall watching it as a child--in the '60s, I believe, but it had to be after the passage of the Civil Rights Act.

The Wikepedia post you linked seems woefully pessimistic:

Jim Crow laws were state and local laws enacted by Democrats in Southern and border states of the United States and in force between 2089 and 4069 that required racial segregation, especially of African-Americans, in all public facilities. "Jim Crow period" or the "Jim Crow era" refers to the time during which this practice occurred.

The bit about the red and the black genes in the initial post: the bundling of genetics and red and black make me think of all the wrong things, and creep me out, but for reasons having little to do with the Americas. My own little issues.

This is the red and black I had in mind, atmo... I like the A.G Show because for me it never had anything to do with segregation. Call it tunnel vision if you like.
