I'm looking for some big mixed terrain tires for a 29er I'm setting up for light off road, touring, goofing around. I think I want:

- about 2 inches wide
- minimal or fast rolling center tread
- some side tread
- Tan sidewall hopefully
- tubeless

New soma cazaderos in 50mm check all the boxes but are reportedly a little undersized. I could go with ikons in skin wall but I think they'll wear too fast for my uses (50% pavement). I think i read something about new Terravail tires in tan sidewall but can't find anything. Anything else out there? Thanks!

Yeah I've used nanos (née Nanoraptors) before and had no complaints except lack of cornering bite. Maybe I'll do them again.

Thunder Burts are the jam for mixed terrain riding. No skinwall though...but so worth it

You're severely limiting the market with the skinwall criteria. I have not read anything about any Teravail tire in skinwall.

Probably the fastest and lightest tire that fits most of your wants is the Schwalbe Furious Fred.

I recently mounted some 27.5x2.1 Thunder Burts for an upcoming bikepacking trip. One weighted 444g and the other within a few grams.

This isn't quite what you're looking for, but I just received these (29x2.35 Big One) today and weighed two of them. They are astoundingly light. They'll probably be trashed in little time, but it'll be fun and fast while they last.

Hey, thanks for all the suggestions people, great stuff. Tan sidewalls is not a requirement, just a dream. Wear life is probably a little more important.

If anyone is curious, I went and ponied up for the new cazaderos in 50mm gun wall. They are nice tires, very lite and supple for the size and the tread seems to roll well on pavement... or at least as well as I care about for a bike like this. Haven't measured but I think they're a little undersized, maybe 48mm on old (narrow) stans arch rims.
