these will function as friction shifters also, correct?

What do you mean by "as friction shifters also?" These are friction only.

Could also be A271 Doppler retrofriction shifters from same era, shown below. I think I have the parts laid out in the correct order. I don't think the washer with the small holes goes with this shifter. The plain friction shifters have white nylon washers on at least the outside of the lever. Can't recall if the there's a nylon washer on the inside, or a brass one.

You do and the plate with holes is not part of the shifter. Hard to say which the OP has w/o seeing inside but lack of brass spacer tells me simple friction, plastic innards. They work fine, just blue picture center fixing bolt. Or it'll 'wander' with use.

thanks guys. i'm putting a nice steel retro build together, and just bought these from ebay. regular friction is fine with me.
