View Full Version : Campy - think I figured out the long reach to the brake levers

So after a few months of riding my first Campy bike and playing around with handlebar setups, I think I finally figured out why my stubby fingers couldn't reach the brake levers: I needed to use Italian bars. I've gone through Ritchey, Zipp and Thomson handlebars, and with all of them I had to contort my wrist to get my fingers on the brakes when riding in the drops. Then I threw on some Deda Zero100, and the problem is totally solved. I thought I'd share in case anyone else has had this same problem.

yup - the one in a red tub? They make an ok shaving balm too.

I also have stubby fingers. Switching from modern compact shapes to round and traditional bend bars let me shift and brake with ease.

I love a Ritchey (Neo)Classic (have 3 sets), and my Merckx has Deda 215 shallows.

yup - the one in a red tub? They make an ok shaving balm too.

Green ... Eucalyptus oil and menthol. Nice.

OP do you have a picture of the handlebar and your set up??? Just curious of how it looks.

Proraso is - well, OK, IMO, but it's all to one's taste. Try some Valobra or Cella, or forego the Italian and get you some Mitchell's Wool Fat for an exceptional soap. IMO...:eek:

Oh yeah - and +1 for the short reach bars for Campy....
