I love the bikes and jerseys. Also, the riders looked much more healthy and normal back then.

For anyone who missed this set that I posted a link to a few weeks ago: Bill Woodul's photos of Pro team vehicles 1974-76 (https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipPpzsBAtquxgotlik3o4nfR3fhCMbthkcmeUXj81ZXAu1 cbniPPx_rLnVMB7PUNJw?key=NldsWE53Y2xYVTVrSmJDSFhYO VlUeHpGb215enF3).

Here's a photo of Tullio Campagnolo, Bill Woodul and Mario Confente.

Hard to top the 1970s for style! Some of those sideburns are fantastic.

What is this rider, the one with his hand on his hip first from left, wearing under his hat?

^^^^^^^^^^

That's a leather hairnet helmet. Very popular before styrofoam helmets were introduced. They were essentially useless but it's what they had.

I thought maybe that is what it was and in fact I used to have one myself but I would never have been able to put a hat over it? I do have a big fat head though, maybe that's just a big hat.

Putting a hat over it or under it was very common. I loved it in latter years when riders would stretch a lycra swim cap or the like over their hairnet to make it so much more aero!

Cut them some slack. Just look at those bell bottoms. They have to get him enough points to overcome the tackle box points deduction!

Great era, all the bikes essentially the same, 'aero' was tucking your jersey into your (wool) shorts. Spectators wearing suits and ties, ladies in dresses...little kids out of school sporting to race paper hats...I need to re-watch Stars and Watercarriers, Sunday in Hell and Le Course en tete again...for about the hundredth time...
