View Full Version : How to paint my De Rosa!

I'm having a tough time deciding how to paint my De Rosa.
Frame is TSX, internal rear cable, flat crown fork.
It is going to be built Campagnolo Chorus 10 silver. Classic silver Shamals with tan walls.

Below are my choices exactly with those sticker configurations.

What would you choose?

Red

Blue

Orange

Red. I have a Neo Primato in a similar color scheme and I still find it striking to look at. Especially offset with silver fork and wheels...

I've always been partial to red De Rosas, in my head it's just the color a De Rosa should be. That said the orange also looks awesome. Just happy you didn't propose polka dots.

The first two are almost too bare because of the lack of World Champion stripes on either tube. If you can get the W.C. stripes added either by themselves or with a contrasting panel like on the Molteni themed downtube on the third frame, choose the red or blue. And don't forget to have the engraving painted in a contrasting color to complete the scheme. Otherwise, blue or red are great.

I'm not a big fan of the Molteni orange.

I've had both the orange Molteni colorway and the classic red/white combo...

This is my favorite...

Is Faema an option?
It is a very nice scheme for a De Rosa, since Faema were the first team to ride them, plus it has the WC stripes.

I like the blue one best. Never been a fan of red and not digging that particular orange.

Faema is the reverse of the red color scheme, just sayin...

I think zmudshark also had/maybe still has a pink De Rosa, iirc.

This fellow did purple with matching stem and white ht/panel.

That pink is awesome. It's looks great because it's a bit darker pink than bubblegum. Pink was my first thought.

But really, pick whatever color you like best. You pretty much can't go wrong.

When I think Italian vehicles I always think of red. That is why I was thinking of red. Thing is I'm not a big fan of red and most De Rosas I see are red.

Faema I like but I'm just not feeling it.

The Molteni I really like because it is different for a De Rosa.

Purpe I like but I would do pink before purple.

I like the blue most the Argentin blue but with the red in the heart.

Argentina blue, pink or Molteni.

Or maybe Belgian blue!

This is Faema red, according to Doriano Derosa, the guy who built em.

The red and blue look great, but are way more common.

I'm slightly biased, but I like DeRosa's blue. The red/white and faema is also cool.

Not according to the guy who rode them for Faema.

And Doriano didn't build them, his dad did.

just not a fan of red, will never own a red car or bike.

the deep metallic blue looks good to my eye. the molteni is ok, but would save that for a Merckx...

and not to split hairs, but my inner interior decorator voice says zmudshark's 'pink' would more accurately be called 'fuchsia'...

That is the official De Rosa color name, but 'pink' sounded simpler. It is pink, ask @jmoore

I'll see if I can put the catalog page here:

The deep blue is known as Ugo Blue, and my favorite of all.

There was an Ugo Blue Professional on the old Hungarian site that had a lot of De Rosa's. When I finally had enough $$ the bike had been sold. I'll see if I have that pic saved somewhere.

Of the provided choices, blue.

Of any color? I do love a pink bike.
