just an FYI, I communicated with the seller and he said that if you want the compass it's an extra 750. hope that doesn't dissuade anybody.

750 is way too much for a compass until you realize that it is also a bell. Then it makes sense.

"I'm telling you, man, my stem is definitely, exactly at the right height!!! I checked the yojimg stem comparison thing (http://yojimg.net/bike/web_tools/stem.php) 3 different times. It is totally dialed in, dude....Here, see?: "The new stem has 85mm less reach and is 493mm higher than the old stem." See??? "

That can't possibly be safe to ride. At some point that awful steerer tube stem contraption is failing ala George Hincapie.

I don't know... in that position, how much weight can you actually put on the bar?

For god sakes give it to a kid who will ride it and go buy an Electra Townie.

This is why people hate cyclists.

This has got to be one of the situations where the SO says, "You never ride that bike. You need to sell it." So the owner lists it on CL for too high a list price and can then claim that no one will buy it for what it's worth.

Interesting to see Serotta built small frames using a smaller front wheel.
Also, what is the story with that fork? Something special to fit the small wheel?

Or the owner died and the wife or husband is trying to sell it for what the guy said it worth.

The bike is ideal for a kid tho. 500 maybe?

Set up is so hard to see.

650c wheels and forks weren't too uncommon at a certain point in ... what, the late '90's? Triathletes liked them because they were supposedly more aerodynamic (not really), and Terry developed the idea to use them on smaller frames on the front wheel to minimize toe overlap. Forks were available.

Then we collectively dropped the idea for a decade, before Pacenti and Rivendell brought back the idea of 650B. If only we'd gone with 650B on both wheels back in the 90's!

By"750" he meant 7.50, right?

they are both 650c, I bet the fork is some kind of aero tri kenesis thing. For a while all 650c forks would have been ugly aero kinds.

call me contrarian but....aside from the miracle that the owner hasn't died while riding due to the stem *thing* (or whatever it is), ya never know...maybe the owner is an 80 year old dude who found that contraption at a garage sale, hit up the j.c. whitney parts catalog, and gets out on the bike more than many of you's do. :hello:

Well doesn't matter if the dude is 80 or 100 because when you have the bike set up in such a way that even a 70's caloi berlineta will be more comfortable even from looking at it, you can tell that something is really wrong. The question is what is wrong you know... I do get that some people has problem with their backs and stuff but this one won the 1st price by far, including the crazy price :P

Who knows in which world the dude lives.

The fact that it defeats the purposes of a drop bar is enough for me.

Now where is that stuff(?), eye bleach or whatever.

Now, this is a rare bike to see, so maybe the price IS realistic?

Serotta made more than 10 of those for sure but even if 2 of those were made, doesnt mean their value will sky rocket at all.

In this forum we have seen weird stuff, example... 1970's colnago cx bike, only 6 made, what makes it rare? colnago did not built CX frames till like 6 years ago. I had a bertoni with columbus max frame, only 3 were made, prototypes, a forumite has 2 of Tom Boonnen bikes, so many examples here in the forums of what can be considered rare or special and sure nobody of the examples cited paid more than market price for them because that's what they worth.

Old steel dont worth too much now a days, and 650c pretty much is gone making the bike even harder to sell, so seeing this thing for mickey mouse numbers is just ridiculous...at least the guy could say that EM used it to win a tour or a classic would be something but even under those circumstances there is no 3k in that tiny bike at all, looks like is mint but besides that the bike worth what it worth... between 450 and 650... it is what it is.
