Anyone here from Vegas? I'll be visiting my brother next week and bringing my bike. Where is a good place to ride?

TIA

I'm from Reno. Close enough?

I would ride up Kyle Canyon (highway 157) or Lee Canyon (highway 156) towards Mt. Charleston.

This probably isn't what you're looking for, but...

I went out to Blue Diamond and rented a mountain bike from the Bike Outpost (http://www.bikeoutpost.com/). As a New Englander, I'd never ridden anything like that terrain, and I had a complete blast. I was there in October, and the weather was ideal.

As far as road riding, . Good luck!

Head north up the 15 a few hours to St. George, where the rock start to turn red. Beautiful riding up there. You won't regret it.

+1 on the Red Rock Canyon recommendation. Its about 15 miles west of town, and has a "scenic drive" that is a fantastic little paved loop with some good rollers. I would just drive out there and ride the loop a few times.

Word! 2 hours outside of Vegas...Great road riding. Start at the base of Snow Canyon National Forest and climb up....At the top, go right and you will have about a 1/2 an hour of rollers. Great fun!

Here's the map for the Las Vegas Century:

the highlights imo are the 159 leg (make sure to detour into the Red Rocks loop as others have said) on the west-sieed and the Lake Mead area (east-sieed). Lake Mead is nice, rollers galore, and pretty windy the day I rode it.

The rest of the ride is mostly plazas and mini-malls, with some hills through the subdivisions.

Do you like to climb? Are you going to be there on the 16th? If so:

I would take cycling near Mount Charleston over the other recommendations - partly because I like to go to the cooler temperature zones
