i like how my BB7s have the conical washers for perfect alignment.

i'd like to run TRP spyres because of the dual-sided clamping, but they lack the aforementioned conical washers.

anyone know of options to retrofit conical washers?

looking at the BB7s, the the "washer stack" takes up alot of axial space along the bolts so they must be "part of the design" from the ground up...not promising.

but i figured i'd ask here, as there are alot of smart/ingenious guys on the forum...maybe someone has figgered something out.

Its possible, but the conical washer stack will move the caliper out reducing in pad to rotor engagement.

Can you use adapters for 140mm rotors and make up the 10mm difference with washers and use 160mm rotors? I haven't worked on Spyres but it seems like that might work.

I wouldn't want less pad contact... it will cause uneven wear and make a "shelf" on the pads that can prevent the pads from really clamping fully

both ends of my disc frame are spec'd for 160mm rotors.

If I'm not mistaken, there are two versions of the brackets that fit between post mounts and calipers.
Some spacer brackets, depending on the brand of calipers they are made for, have a shorter stack height to accommodate the washers.

I've previously had to incrementally file the flat mounting surfaces as part of an hour-long process to establish alignment when a bracket was too thick, but I installed a Shimano M375 mechanical rear caliper the other day and used the bracket on my Huffy with spherical washer stack on both sides of each caliper tab. The caliper is now aligned and centered with the disc surface so is a perfect fit. Soon I will be going to a 180mm rotor so will get to start over.

Always be sure that the bolts are long enough to secure eight or more threads with all of the finalized mounting hardware in place!!!
