View Full Version : Need help with 9100 crankset fitment to BBRight
I'm about to try installing a 9100 crankset onto a Cervelo R5 with it's offset BBRight bottom bracket standard.
So far I have removed the semi-compact Rotor 3D30 crankset to sell off, and with the 30mm ID bearings still pressed in the frame. I'll be receiving a Shimano bb for pressfit frames as part of the pkg deal but not sure that I can even use it on this frame with the BBRight interface.
I should have all of the parts arrive here by this evening, most likely.
I'm wondering if there is an easy-to-fit pair of reducers that might be the best /easiest way to properly mate the Shimano crankset with the offset pressfit bb shell.
Anybody here installed a Shimano crankset to their BBRight Cervelo?
Thanks in advance for any/all advice!

I had a Kogel pressfit bb for BBright/24mm cranks.
I used my 9000 with it. Worked great and was silent. No adaptors.
Thanks, y'all, and it looks like the Wheels Mfg. adaptor kit is widely available for 40 bucks or so, which I might half recoup by selling the Shimano bb I have coming.

You're better off with a new BB. Less chance of creaking/noises

...friendly reminder, Loctite 609 (or stronger) and Primer is a must for this install

I recommend trying the inexpensive Wheels Manufacturing Delrin adapter first. It's low-cost, requires no special tools, and installs in seconds. I have Wheels Manufacturing Delrin adapters on two BB30 bikes. No noise whatsoever - other than the gasping of my breathing!

Maybe another option?

I went with the Wheels Mfg. kit and it went together with no issues.
I did notice that the 9100 model crankset seems to have been adjusted wider to accommodate 135mm disc frames. I set the chainline perfectly centered but the left arm protrudes a few mm further at the pedal as measured from the wheel rim. I reversed the wheel to check for any dish offset but it was the same with the wheel reversed.
That's kind of an unwanted compromise to the crank, unless this new Cervelo R5 frame has an issue with the wheel not pointing dead center straight, and this is not an issue with BBRight's offset bb shell since the chainline was perfect with the Wheels Mfg kit using no spacers except a paper-thin one to assure clearance between the left arm and the metal bb cup that the BB30 bearings are pressed into.
