Favourite routes - Mountain View to Napa

I'll be interested to see if there are secret routes without crazy auto traffic to accomplish this.

Same here. Looking on a map, all points lead to a lot of busy traffic on any logical route.

I can't help you at the south end, but I have a Cat 1 friend who would ride from Napa to Morgan Hill on Friday's to visit his elderly parents and return on Sunday. The key for him was Skyline Blvd on the peninsula, then it's pretty standard north of that via Great Hwy, Legion of Honor, Presidio, GG, Sausalito, std bike route through Marin County to Sir Francis Drake Blvd, Nicasio Valley Rd, Pt Reyes-Petaluma Rd into Petaluma, N-E to Robert's Rd, Sonoma Mtn, Glen Ellen, Trinity, Oakville Grd or Dry Creek to Napa.

Reverse Bayway or Skyline (http://sf2g.com/) to SF

...and then you can reverse this route (https://ridewithgps.com/routes/19997781) but it's not the most direct way to get to Napa.

or just take take the ferry to Vallejo and then ride from there!

Ride thru SF on Ocean side
Up hill to Baker Beach
Cross GG bridge into Marin
Follow bike path to Bridgeway
Left and quick right up Corte Madera grade
Bike way well marked thru Ross, San Anselmo,
Fairfax
Left on Sir Francis Drake
Right on Nicasio
At T
right again all the way to Petaluma
Then meander up to Hwy 12
Done!
Only real traffic is 6 miles of Hwy 12
Enjoy it is a bit of climbing in Marin
