I seem to recall that someone makes a carbon friction paste that doesn't rely on grit for holding power.
Sound familiar to anyone?
Google isn't helping....

I'm pretty sure the grit is the active ingredient.....without the grit it's just grease.

Crest or Colgate? j/k. I'd be curious to know too. Maybe you are thinking of Carbogrip by Effetto Mariposa?

Motorex Carbon Paste
+1. This is what I use and does not scratch parts like gritty paste does.

Yep. Can't explain how it works, but there is no grit in it yet it keeps parts from slipping. I don't understand what that review on road.cc is referring to. I've also got some FSA-branded paste and that's definitely gritty.
Here's the article (thanks Charles) that prompted me to buy it: http://www.pezcyclingnews.com/technspec/swiss-slick-motorex-cycling-specific-lubes/#.WYt7qlGGNPY note the specific description/pics of 'no grit'...

Pretty bogus review. The author does not appear to understand the product at all.

I could only find it at Merlin. Guess I'll have to buy a wheel set or Campy group set with it - you know, so I can get free shipping :help:

What's wrong with Park or Tacx carbon paste that... well... everybody else uses?

Because it was referenced earlier in the thread and it is not a gritty type paste, but chemical type. Wondering if that type is working better. Ok?
