5700 Shifters and 5800 Rear Derailleur Compatibility?

Will this Shimano combination work? I am running an old DeoreLX (maybe 8 speed era?) with these shifters and besides a worn b-pivot, it works fine. Looking to upgrade.

Nope. 11sp derailleurs use a different pull ratio.

Yup. I'll add that I actually tried it (because I bought the wrong RD by mistake) because sometimes things work even when they're not supposed to. It didn't work.

11 won't work, but anything 7-10 speed road and 7-9 speed mountain will work fine.
