Too much of the "vino, bubbly, hops, brown/white nectar" the night before = slow(bad?) ride. ;)

Must explain my ride yesterday...

Sleep: Went to bed late and didn't sleep well - bad ride
Weight is ok, still want to drop 5-10 - neutral ride
Plenty of time with wife/kids out of town but on-call this week for work, had to stop twice to answer the phone - neutral ride
Stress level high from being on call and wife/kids out of town - bad ride
Bike fit is good but wore some older bibs - neutral ride
Bike worked just fine, Garmin decided to shut off with 33% battery left though - bad/neutral

:crap:

Being tired means I need to rest, not ride more.

Feeling like crap in the morning?--haul out your bike and saddle up.

Fifteen minutes in, you are having a good ride. (or you have keeled over on the side of the road)

This is very true. An intense bike ride is the second best way to start the day.

A bad day on the bike is still a good day.

Riding a bike = good ride
Not riding a bike = waste of a life

Everything else is meaningless.

Correct side of the grass and riding is a good ride.
Mechanicals, bad weather, getting lost etc. are a bonus, free of charge, i.e. STORIES!!

Hmmm. I thought the rule was "Any ride-good ride"

Relearned just this weekend!

1. Be respectful and considerate of other folks on the road

2. Do not engage crazy people. Particularly when the are behind the wheel of a car.

A bad ride is better than a good almost anything else. But, some rides are better than others.

A bad ride is better than a good almost anything else.

The ride I broke my ribs sucked. The ride where I needed 23 stitches to my right eyelid sucked worse. The other 3998 rides I'm guessing I took over ther last 40 years were all better. Looks like I'm batting 99.95% for good rides. Maybe I should just ignore the "hit cyclist" threads and just go on enjoying the ride.

The key to a good ride is always start after "pro o'clock" (10am)
