Well, I guess I'm am not using photobucket anymore, they had been going downhill for a while now so I guess them wanting to charge 400 dollars a year for the ability to embed images is not surprising.

I guess I'll download images and start over some other place, I'll try to update links in image gallery when possible.

Quick question though, what new host should I use? Flickr, imgur? I think lots of these exist but I have no idea really.

I don't require a free site if the cost is reasonable (400 per year does not seem reasonable)

Thanks for the help

I used to use Picasa, so now have some photos at Google Photos (https://photos.google.com/). If you already have a Google account, that might be the easiest to start with. I load most images into Flickr these days, however. I know a fair number of the gang at Classic Rendezvous have the Flickr Pro service. There is also Ipernity (http://www.ipernity.com/), which I think a bunch of Flickr users jumped to a few years ago when they made dramatic changes in their interface.

Whatever you select, if you take photos with your phone, an auto-uploader app comes in handy. I kind of believe they must all have them at this point, but it's worth making sure.

free and works with the forum, not a lot of room but just load the batch you need, when you are done, remove the pictures and load new ones.

^ While it might work with the forum, wouldn't that result in broken images when you remove them?

OP check out this thread for recommendations --> Not OT: so Photobucket just killed 3rd party image hosting? (https://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=207420)

As I mentioned in that thread as well, any site you use to link photos here will eventually end up in broken links sooner or later. The best bet is to upload here if you want them to be more or less a permanent contribution to the forum collective.

Why not get your own website.
GoDaddy is currently offering 99 cent domain names.
These guys (https://jaguarpc.com/web-hosting-service/) offer 125 GB of web space for $14.95 a year. Many others do too.

You could have your own bicycletricycle.com....:)

Well yeah but if you are selling something and is sold, why do you want to keep the picture in there for the nest 10 years?

Granted. I hang out a lot on places like bikeforums.net (in the c&v forum). Pictures tend to be used as documentation of builds as well as research into past practices. Those sorts of images have a much longer useful lifetime than images of a few crusty hubs and a scratched up derailleur. [emoji2]

Why is everyone against Flickr?
I've been using it for years and it's amazing. I simply pay the yearly fees.

Not really about the classifieds, more about the images shared in the Galleries and GD area.

Well that's the kinda of sales pitch that engenders respect in the reader. Thank you, it's also the answer to the question I was thinking.
