Some pics not working. Close-ups on the RD and DT shifters would help.

Rear derailleur appears to be Athena.

thanks ALOT for the info guys....ultra, how can you tell its a max tubeset ???
the bike is a biemmezeta i found for sale locally. looks to be a "crono" timetrial model with the monostay and dimpled downtube and apparently crazy steep/tight geometry . seller wants $950 canadian....trying to decide if i should pull the trigger

Love the look of the monostay! Never heard of them, but they are on classicrendezvous! http://www.classicrendezvous.com/Italy/Biemmezeta.htm

That looks like a really nice geometry for a bike that old... BMZ... good stuff, the fork looks a lot like having max fork stays, the max tubing is really easy to spot because the diameter and shape of the tube changes, just google it, if its max the ride has to be super nice, personally i like more max than sl, and i like those 2 more than 574 reynolds which I find like soft.

That might their TT aero bike maybe a year before funny bikes, either way IMO the price is a little bit off, the problem for me is that BMZ is not like well known and is not like you are selling a colnago so get your money out of that later is really hard, and probably you can use that argument to get the price down a little?

Just my opinion...

1988-1990 Athena:

grey pulley wheels; white hoods; choice of Syncro2 indexed, Record friction, or Record Doppler (retrofriction) shifters; 6 or 7 speed; freewheel rear hub.

1991 Athena:

black pulley wheels; black hoods; only Syncro shifters shown in catalog; 7 speed; freewheel or cassette hub.

1992 Athena:

rear derailleur changed to one that resembles 2nd generation Chorus, with limit screws on the lower side of outer link and an exposed cage pivot bolt head; rear DT shifter gains cable adjuster; Record Ergopower optional; 8 speed; cassette hub; cassettes ranged from 11-18 to 13-32.

Can't see the crank well enough but Athena should be smooth around the dust cap while Chorus has a raised lip. Athena dust cap has two pin spanner holes and winged Victory logo. Chorus dust cap has hex hole in center.

The photos appear to match first generation Athena (introduced 1988). Here's the 1988 Athena catalog:
