i remember reading somewhere that the DA 9000 bottom bracket needs an installation tool that is different from most other outboard BB's, is that correct?

i have a lezyne tool that works on CK, campy UT, phil wood outboard and sram GXP bottom brackets, will it work on a 9000?

Don't think so, the DA9000 is smaller. Time to buy an Abbey.

The BB comes with the adapter you'll need. No need to buy another tool.

If you buy new, it should come with a plastic adapter to let you use a standard Hollowtech tool, like the Park BBT-9

I dont know why they are smaller but........ they sure look better in a steel or ti frame.

As for the plastic adapter that comes with the 9000 BB, I found that the GXP etc tool did not take it. I had to get a Hollowtech II tool to fit the adapter.

The new DA BBs are supposed to be lighter and more efficient.

"Using 19 slightly smaller ball bearings on each side instead of 15 larger ones shaves precious grams, and updated seals drop resistance by up to 75%. The cone profiles have also been redesigned for increased durability so the BB-R9100 can take the same amount of abuse as its larger-bearing forebears."
