I purchased this mtb overseas, arrived yesterday. Unfortunately, it wasn't packed well (enough). Thru-axle was removed from rear wheel so it just sat loosely under the frame for the two week journey. The brake rotor sat under the chainstay scraping away. I'm trying to determine if a carbon repair is warranted, or just paint, or both. For my untrained eye the rotor scraped through the paint, primer, and through the outer layer of carbon that the paint is applied to. Any thoughts? I'm working on contacting some somewhat local carbon repair and paint shops. A zip tie was also tied around the top tube, so that rubbed off some of the painted logo. In a perfect work I'd like to find some kind of airbrush artist that could restore that too.

Thoughts?

Can't really tell by that picture. But whatever you do, DONT use Ruckus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With that said, from that picture, it looks like just paint.

I've contacted VeloZephyr and Altitude in the Denver-Boulder area. Not familiar with either but they're close. And, Spectrum for paint only. Haven't heard anything back yet.

I'd contact Joe at http://www.carbonframerepair.com/

He did an impeccable job repairing some cf damage in the BB area of my Wilier Cento1. Great guy and he knows his stuff. My frame had a custom blended metallic pearl fade. I was REALY doubtful he'd be able to do the repair and then blend in the new paint with the old.

I got the frame back last week and I cannot tell a difference. Let him know Wayne referred you :-)

Just my opinion from the picture, looks just paint gone... not hard to fix... some epoxy filler, primer and paint and good to go.

Did you manage to make that area to creak? if doesnt creak well...

There is a local company Altitude Composites. He examined frame showed me where three layers of carbon had been scraped out. I left the frame with him as he could work on it right away. He's not doing paint work right now due to workload. He referred me to Ethic paint works (Alchemy Bikes) also local for paint. If it goes well I'll post after pictures. I was trying to find local to avoid shipping and complete disassembly.
