Have bought a nice steel frame. Looking to find a rather slim stem to put on it to match the tube size n not have a chunky looking front. Id like it to be wet black with as few logos as possible (none preferred). If i can choose angle it would have 12-15 or so.

If there was a matching setback seatpost that would be a bonus.
Usually i have used zipp sc sl in beyond black but I'm not so into those this time so.. Suggestions??

Thanks!

I just bought an S-works stem. Very minimalist. Logos are very hard to see.

Deda Superlegerro in the all black verson. You can use acetone to clean the white bits off and looks super clean!

Found one that looked okay hard to tell from pics just how slim it was but i think only available in 6 degree. Ideally i would have at least 10.

Cheers. Yeah these are kinda neat but they are more grayish black than solid wet black. Yeah i know I'm beeing picky .)

Deda Superleggero is your best option for a slim stem. You could always get it reanodized. But they are definitely black, not grey!

The only gloss black stems I can think of a Ritchey and Zipp, neither of which are slim.

Your only other option is trawl ebay and try and find a gloss black unbranded stem taken from a stock bike

I really like the quality and look of the Fizik Cryano on my steel frame. Not your angle or fully wet black, but an option.

Kalloy Uno comes in -17 and can be found inexpensively on the big auction site or pre-stealthed from Fairwheel Bikes. Default finish is bead-blasted, but you could just hit it with a can of glossy clear coat after giving the logos the acetone treatment.

The logos on older versions of the bead blasted Ritchey WCS posts can also easily be stripped. Insert post into frame, mark off your needed height, mask the selection below the mark and then clear coat above it.

I think you should use the always superior silver stuff from Nitto.

Steel deserves a quill stem, the problem is that no manufacturer now a days wants to deal with a threaded fork... like real man used to do back in the day! :P

Can you hook me up with a 1.5 tapered threaded ;-)

sim works stuff (nitto made) is wet black, minimally branded, and slim except for the seatpost head.

2nd the Fizik. 7 degree stem looks pretty good, matching seatpost is solid with 25cm setback. They do what they're supposed to and don't break the bank

hard to see but it is not square like the fizik but a triangular shape. Very slimming. Using one with an upcoming steel build.

Sure there are others, but recently picked up an Easton 90 stem for $30 at CC. Nice stem. Even nicer at $30. Comes in +/- 10d too.

Thanks for all the suggestions!! Still not really sold on any of the alternatives. I guess i want a light alu stem that looks like a steel stem with a 10+ angle.

Look for an older Salsa stem. Back when they were made by Salsa. Light, very slim and retro and cool all at the same time. And they had them in open face and closed.

OR, have one made. Like a nice steel stem. Either filet brazed or lugged. That could be hot.

+1 on the Fizik Cyrano. The seatposts are nice too and fit well on a variety of frames.

Would Velo Orange stuff be inappropriate? Their grand cru seatposts are great, and this stem would match nicely.

Steel looks best with steel, so I second the Simworks options or an older Salsa
