....riding in Spokane that is. We live just 10 miles from downtown Spokane and I-90, yet this is where we ride, two miles from our house!

A few miles further, into the hills.

In the hills are a lot of old farms and homesteads.

Approaching the top, about 15 miles now.

If you can read the sign, you know what the reward is at the top.

Dave, that looks really cool.

So when are you hosting the TdS?

We have yet to have a big left coast gathering...

The rewards!!

The area we ride to is called GreenBluff, a farming area for over 100 years. Corn, apples, cherries, peaches, pears, honey and much more are produced on GreenBluff. It's been turned into a giant, virtually year-round farmers market, with many of them specializing in one crop or another. Like this place, the Harvest House. Peaches, corn and the very best apple cider. Oh my!

So my wife and I ride up here often, buy the things we need and want, have some fresh Peach Smoothies, ride home and come back in the car to pick up our bounty. It's a 15 mile mostly uphill ride....

...and then a 15 mile mostly downhill ride home!

We live way over...................there.

Dave,

Thanks for the beautiful tour. What's the traffic like? It takes me a bit longer to find roads like that out here but I can be out among the corn fields in about 20 minutes. It's funny...solitude is a great thing out on my bike but there are other times when I really get a rush from being on a highway with a bunch of traffic and getting a bit of a pull from their vacuum.

Nice shots Dave. I used to occasionally come to Spokane on work related stuff and your pictures look familiar. Do you ever get down to the Palouse for any riding? Those are some of the prettiest hills I've ever seen.

Dave,
I suppose you found the "new" digital camera you were looking for?

Thanks for the pics!

My first thought was that you were on Wild Rose Prarie and then old 395 going N. Ever ride up old 395 along Dragoon Creek? The course they used in Nationals is out there someplace W of Wild Rose I think, not sure though. I would think that a 3 day credit card ride up to Nelson, accross Kootenai on the free ferry and back down throughBonners Ferry, Idaho would be great about this time of year.

I don’t ride much in the Palouse as it’s about 30 miles south of us. I can get the same type of roads and scenery up here where I live.

Yup, a Nikon L4. On sale at Staples for $129 including a 512MB SD memory card! Plus I bought it in Montana, no sales tax.

Good eye! I often ride the back roads north to Deer Park, passing through Wild Rose. If I come back south. I’ll catch 395 for the fast ride home.

nice country but,as you know from experience, some of that crappy-looking pavement could be in San Diego County. That's why yesterday I took the Riv Allrounder with newly-mounted Performance 700x35 Cross tires with Kevlar belts. They measure a bit over 32mm mounted on medium-wide rims and are pretty cushy at 70psi. They were on sale for $9 each so I splurged  .

Yeah, I suppose for a man of your income (he sells real estate in La Jolla California folks) $9 for tires would be stretch! :D

The roads are chip seal but not too bad. Farm roads mostly and very lightly traveled.

and beautiful country, Dave. I've been through there a bit, but only in summer; it always seemed to me that it would be pretty damned hot for riding. You tend to get out early am or later pm during July/August?

It can get rather toasty during late July and early August (95~105*!) but there is very little humidty. We're pretty far north, so during the summer it starts to get light around 4:30AM and gets dark around 9:30ishPM and we have lots of nice riding times in the mornings and evenings.

could you please email my wife and tell her it is okay to move away from Oklahoma?

Thanks in advance,
