Who knows Shimano shoes

I'm wondering if Shimano uses the same last for their mountain and road shoes, specifically the 2nd tier RC7 and XC7.

I do know someone who got a pair of the XC7- they thought that they were a poor fit compared to the 9 series.

I don't know the current gen, but my road and mtn shoes fit a bit different. I think the road last has a wider toe box. I'm a 43.
