Anybody using apps with their Garmin 520?

I just found out this was possible. Of course, I just found out I was 5 levels behind on my updates, so...
I am assuming I need to have my phone linked & on for these to work, correct?
What do you use? Which ones are most useful? Are they space hogs? I don't have a lot of room left on my 520 as it is.

I didn't know there had been updates to the firmware (I was on 7.1. It's now at 12.1) & when Garmin Express updated it, it had apps available. Wut? Apps? On this? There are a lot of them, but I'm not sure how they work. Going to pick something and try it out, but hoping someone already does this & can offer suggestions.
I'm now updating my old 500. THAT should be way behind. :banana:

These appear to be apps ON the 520. I guess you use GE & Connect IQ to load them.
