View Full Version : Stem suggestions for Steelman Eurocross 1" threadless steerer

I'm building up a Steelman Eurocross with a 1" threadless steerer. Finding a stem that doesn't require a shim has been fruitless. So I'm on to finding a 1 1/8" stem that won't "overwhelm" the skinny headtube, etc. Looking for about a 90mm length stem supporting 26mm bars or similar. Suggestions or possible solutions welcome.
Thanks,
Taylor

Salsa 1" stems always looked pretty rad to me,
if you're still looking for 1"

Nitto makes a 1" threadless production stem (https://global.bluelug.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=FAIRWEATHER*+MT-31+side+clamp+) that fits a 25.4 handlebar

Thanks for the suggestions. Salsa is cool, though it looks like a zero rise (I am hoping for about 10) and I'm looking for silver (should have mentioned that at the outset). I will check out what a custom one will cost. Fairweather Nitto looks great. Thanks, all.
Best,

I've got this one in my parts bin if you need something quick and cheap,
I think it's 100mm though. It's a -17, 100mm. Which for reference would be 2mm greater reach and 15cm higher than a 90mm/10deg stem(you could use fewer spacers):

You should check out the SimWorks stuff. I use a Rhonda stem with a shim on my Hunter (it too has a 1" steerer) and it matches really nicely. Comes in shiny silver if that's your thing, and made by Nitto

Get a custom stem. You've got too many specifications to luck out finding a stock stem. You will certainly pay dearly for it but in the end you'll get exactly what you were looking for and it will be a lot less aggravation than searching the internet for one. I'm sure there are others.
Winter Bicycles (http://http://www.winterbicycles.com/gallery/stems/) is one such place to order one.

I've found the Bontrager RaceLite series and the Ritchey WCS/Classic all look really good on my bike with a one inch steerer.
Also the Deda Newton (the old one).

Cinelli Grammo (Ti); would make for a level stem though.

i think velo orange has some inexpensive silver stems that will work. i've got a couple in use, and the quality is good for the price.

I have an old Ritchey that's a 1" steerer and 26.0 handlebar clamp. Can't remember how long it is. What length are you looking for?

Check Syntace and I would recommend a 26 clamp. I have a IF Crown J with a 1" steerer and the Syntace stem and bar is dialed.

Sim works looks awesome. All those Nitto stems in one place is a good thing.
