just hoping i could get some advice from the braintrust here.
i have a 1997 chorus 9 speed groupset im thinking of selling..just wondering what a fair price would be....includes
headset, hubs on open pro rims, bb, seatpost, brifters, brake calpers and complete drivetrain
condition is very good, never seen rain but it has been well used, everthing still works perfectly.
thanks for any guidance on this.

Some of the gravel grinder folks prefer 9 speed to 10 or 11 because they think it's more durable in dirty conditions and these wheels would also be good for such use.

not sure of your group value but pics might help get a better idea of your group value and then there is ebay searches of course..
bit of a thread hijack here... does anyone know off hand if these shifters can be modified for 10 speed and if so,will the the rear derailleur work w/10 speed ok?
for some odd reason I still have one of these groups new in boxes and always wondered if this was possible.

I think Old Potato has offered 9-to-10 speed conversion service for reasonable cost.

1997, last year of pointy top, they cannot with just a 10s disc. Center flats that the central bolt inserts into larger for 9s. First gen 9s, 1998, no to that also, to 10s. 1999, as they changed innards to accommodate ErgoBrain, yes and easy.

Rear cap off, if smooth metal spring cover, button head bolt-1998, if notched plate, 2 Square holes, conventional 3mm Allen head, 1999 and yes to convert to 10s.

Hard to put a value on parts without seeing them but I'd guess if reasonably nice the group with wheels would be in the $400-500 range. I based that on what I typically pay for individual parts, might be tougher to sell it for that as a lump.

thanks Peter.i think its a 1998 group though.the shift levers don't have a cutout.i'll have to take a look at the levers and compare that to your explanation above.if its doable i'll send the levers to you..

anyone know it that 9 speed rear derailleur will work with 10 speed?

1997 levers: Pointy top
1998 levers: round top, no window in shift lever
1999 levers: round top, window in shift lever, "Chorus" in black letters on brake blade
2000 levers: round top, window in shift lever, "Chorus in silver letters inside black parallelogram
2001 levers: same as 2000 but "carbon BB system" replaced with "9 speed". Campagnolo continued to show AL Chorus 9 levers in the catalogs through 2006. Weight remained the same 365g as in 2001. There are no pics of them but I assume the appearance changed little.

If 1998, your RD will be of the 8 speed design with the B screw in the traditional place behind the mounting bolt. I've never tried one with 10 speed but it might work OK, especially if you install a pair of 9/10 pulleys. That said, I'd probably go with a 9/10 type RD. Your Chorus 9 is the type that regularly cracks in a line parallel to the attachment point. You can probably sell it for more than the cost of a Chorus 10.

thanks Oliver,
your probably correct its not worth the trouble for the conversion since its all still new in boxes from 1998.and the 1998 version may not be compatible for the 10 speed upgrade even if the rear derailleur is.
