Have been enjoying riding Sidi's Drako (http://www.sidi.com/en/products/cycling/shoes/mtb/drako) shoe for a while now. But after +/-800 miles of combination road and sandy gravel riding the Tecno 3 ratchets (https://www.competitivecyclist.com/sidi-tecno-3-buckles) are becoming sticky and seem to have lost some of the original silky smoothness. Functionally they work fine, they are just feeling a bit 'sticky' or 'sluggish' when releasing buckle and de-tensioning the filament closure(s).

Wondering if any forumite's have experience or insight on how these systems are to be cleaned, maintained and/or lubricated, if at all? The ratchet is clearly visible when folding the buckle over with the teeth easily accessible. Have all types of lubes on hand-spray Teflon, drip Teflon, WD-40, dry chain lube etc but reluctant to gum up the system or aid in sand or grime collection.

Suggestions or cautions...?:bike:

Thanks

All you need to do is spray dish washing liquid on the inside(the side that's facing the shoe). Make sure it gets in there. Then rinse under faucet. Works for me.

Don't lube them. You can either remove them and give them a good thorough wash, or, if they're too chewed up, replace them entirely.

Here's a video that includes removal instructions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58XWXrcL8ac
