View Full Version : Problems with Giro Roc-Loc

I own both the Synthe and Savant helmets from Giro, and both have developed a problem where the plastic tab that connects the Roc-Loc tightener to the back of the helmet has become detached. It seems like a simple fix, as if the hole on the Roc-Loc tightener should simply pop back onto the back of the helmet. Unfortunately, after wrestling with the thing for more time than I care to admit, I can confidently say this is not the case. I e-mailed Giro about it, and they said the problem requires shipping the helmet back to them for repair.

Has anyone else had this problem? I would imagine it's relatively common given the only two Giro helmets I've owned have had the issue. Any easy solution I'm missing? If not I can take them back to my LBS, but I'd prefer to save everyone the hassle.

Are the tabs you are referring to directly connected to the foam of the helmet or to another plastic piece?

To another plastic piece, a picture probably describes this the best:

I've had a bunch of roc loc problems and none were repairable without breaking something else In the end I just bought a full roc loc unit replacement. Depends what model you have but the price here seems bout right: https://www.excelsports.com/main.asp?page=8&description=Roc+Loc+5+Fit+System&vendorCode=GIRO&major=3&minor=30

That's a bummer to hear! That part looks pretty much identical to the one on my Synthe, but it's not listed as one of the "compatible" models. Maybe Ill just resort to sending it in. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I experienced the similar issues. I switched to Kask & Rudy. Problems solved

I had the same exact issue on my Atmos. I used some JB weld to reattach it and called it done.

They are a twist on piece, not a press fit piece. You will break the tab if you press it on and will need an entirely new retention system FYI.
