I picked up this bike at a garage sale last weekend, It is a 1988 Schwinn Circuit. I haven't had time to research it much, but it seems high quality. It has Columbus Tubing and a Shimano Sante group that I am not familiar with. It is in pretty good condition with the biggest issue being rust on and under the cable guides in the top tube.

If anyone has information they can share on this bike or Sante components, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

These old Schwinn's are great old basic riders. Sante is a nice group also.

Santa was made in the mid 80's and was a quality group positioned below Dura Ace and above Shimano 600.

I don't remember this completely but I think the Circuit was Schwinn's highest level/ price point (amongst the Schwinn branded bikes, the Waterfords were a different story).

It's definitely a nice rider for a vintage bike. Enjoy!

I have one too! Is yours Prestige or Columbus?

If it fits, you may be surprised at the ride.

The 1988 Circuit was, I believe, a mix of SL and Tange.

The Sante group may be worth the price of admission if you want to put modern stuff on it.

if you want to put modern stuff on it.

I say keep the Sante on there (assuming it works half-well).

It is a Columbus frame. My plan would be to keep the Sante group on it, but I may switch STI type 7 speed shifters/brake levers if they are compatible. I had a Felt for a while with a set of 7 speed Microshift shifters and I liked them. I really liked how solid the brake levers felt since they do not have to rotate like the Shimanos do.

I think Sante as Dura Ace pull ratios, so keep that in mind if you go indexed.

The Circuit was one notch below the Peloton (Panasonic-built, Suntour Superbe mostly). Both were below the Paramount.
