I've given up on the Pacenti 23SL wheels I had built. I never could change the tire, just too difficult. I'm looking at the Easton R90SL or Hed Belgium C2. Very similar, good reviews etc. Easton Tubleless Hed not. Difference of approximately 20 grams per rim. Anyone have experience with the Easton?

I've got a rear wheel with the Easton R90 SL that replaced a cracked V1 Pacenti. It's a nice rim, a little taller and wider than a Pacenti.

I assume using tubeless tape?

I've had a bear of a time on tubeless rims when using regular velox tape when not running tubeless.

I have 3 wheels built with easton rims right now (R90, Arc 24, Arc 27) and they've all build up really nice and all set up tubeless easily.

We have SOOOO many good rim options right now, but I'm sold on the eastons.

I've started building the Easton R90SL for customers after a year of harsh riding on my Eastons. We actually prefer them over Belgiums as the tubeless set up is easier.

Build quality in both is great.

Just built some Easton ARC 27 rims and man were they round. Hardly needed truing, that company is doing something right.

Easton rims are great. Easton prebuilts suck.

My LBS tells me that you can run tubeless on the HED Belgium C2's if you use tubeless rim tape, although I've never tried. The owner has them on one of his bikes right now.

I know nothing about the Easton's, but I have about 20,000 miles on my HED's and I absolutely LOVE them. I ride on some really potholed roads, and often gravel, and have had zero problems with them. Of course, it also helps if you know a really good wheel builder.

Good luck!

Ergott built me a set with Easton R90SL rims. They as nice as similar offerings from Pacenti or HED.

Interesting to note the wide variety of experiences with the Pacenti's. I have an early version of the Pacenti rim and if you use tubeless tape, have had zero difficulty even with Conti tires.

Shimano wheels. No rim strip or tape necessary.
