Manet:

What an awesome looking crank, looks like one I had for years. Sorry for all of the sweat pitting and scratches. Good luck, ride TT into the ground. :D

thanks! hey it's sweetness. my pal A.L.Breguet helped me, or i should say,
i helped A.L. remove my old BB and replace it with the wonderfully patina finish set.

when i get the tape + tires on i'll repost, maybe next to the tall one's.

looks like the right bike manet.
you wont need wide tires... 28s would be aok.

ps the week looks dry...bodes well for the ride.

Manet, are you planning to go with 25's or 28's for tires?

I know that SteveP road it earlier this year. I thought I recalled him riding a cross rig, but unsure of tire selection.
I'm going with 4 friends, and I know a couple of us are on cross bikes with low profile multi-use 35s. (I wish I had my camera handy, I'd sanp a pic). They're a lot lower rolling resistance than any standard 32 cross tire I've seen.
Either way, it looks like weather should be decent, and that will certainly be helpful.
Thanks,
Tom

yep, great ride.
the tires i had were 30c ritchey cross tires speedmax.
note that these tires are a very narrow 30c and really the only cross tires that fit on my ritchey cross frame...michelins rub on the chainstays.
they probably are equal to a 28c tire.
they worked well for the ride.
you cannot not love that ride.
watch for a friend of mine riding my red/ white ritchey out there...has a white concor saddle.
he is crackpot mo.
give him some shiite for me.

Steve,
Thanks for the feedback. I'm really looking forward to it, and I'll be on the lookout for mo.
Oh, I forgot, I saw that you're a CCB man. I ride regularly with A. Ruiz here in Albany. I was telling him about this ride he was chuckling about the idea of 80mi on dirt.

tell andy he should do the ride... he would like it and probably win the sprint at the end to boot.

No kidding. For not being a real big guy, he sure can rip off a mean sprint.
I've never beat him to a town line yet!

Be on the lookout for three dudes on full rigid mountain bikes with slicks doing the 180k ride. We'll be the ones looking like wide eyed kids on christmas morning.
