View Full Version : Myth or Fact
Now, with most Tubular tires that have latex tubes, air escapes rather quickly (24 hours). With most butyl tubes, CO2 escapes rather quickly (24 hours). If you use tub tires (or a latex tube), will it contain the CO2 12 hours, 24 hours or not at all.
Please shed some light. Thanks.

CO2 will pass through latex pretty darn fast. If you have a latex tube (or tubular) CO2 will probably get you home, but I'd be sure to have an extra cartridge. CO2 dissolves in latex at a higher rate than in butyl.

ummm...uh...
I pump my tubulars up with a floor pump, continentals, and they don't leak, even after a few days..

Not all tubulars use latex some use butyl thus is why your tires did loose air flat after a few days. Latex usually looses about 50% of it's air in 24 hours and less the second 24 hours due to the pressure being lower. If I remember correctly that after 72 hours they were flat.
