Hello all,

My dad has a bike that he never rode much and it has a full Campy Record 10 group on it...the cranks aren't carbon but everything is pretty mint with a bit under 2k miles on it. I am probably going to offload the group here but wanted to see what proper value is and would prefer to stay away from eBay.

IMO you will be ok like with 350 bucks shipped w/o the wheelset. Unless you really want to cut a super deal and for 400 bucks shipped with the wheelset the group will leave the house quite quick.

Or if you are in need of an ITM carbon mocoque handlebar and stem (ITM uniko) I would trade you that for the brifters... :D

Condition? Year? Full group etc? One need more info and pics to give you an answer.

But ebay sold listings will give you a good idea. Find a few items that is the same group and condition, find a median price and then deduct 15% or so for sale on here. Thats at least a good ballpark

Want to trade for a mint 7800 Dura Ace group?

It'd be just shifters, FD, RD, crankset 172.5, brakes, BB, and cassette. If I decide to sell I will let you all know I just wanted somewhat of an estimate! Thanks guys!

id say this is pretty close, 350-400 bucks considering alloy cranks. For whatever reason the Chorus alloy stuff from this era is worth more than the record stuff. i guess its the lack of alloy offerings currently on the market?

Sounds like a 2000-2003 era group. Hard to estimate value without seeing condition but I'd say $350 is in the ballpark for average used parts. If the parts are in really nice condition you might get $50 - 100 more.

I was going to say, in good condition you are looking at $400+

I know shifters in good condition go for $150, RD for about $100 for the all carbon, a little less for the one with silver cage.

You're building up a new bike and selling off a Record 10 group?

I'll echo $350. Brakes, FD, and crank/BB are not worth much. The Shifters and RD is where most of the value is. I think shifters in minty shape can fetch $150-200, RD about $75-100 if mint, and the remaining $50-100 covers the rest just for the convenience of getting a "complete" group.

If dollars are your goal you will net far more if you sell the parts individually, as with anything bike related.

Are the lever alloy Record by any chance ? That'd be bigger $$.

But then they wouldent be 10s as campy never made 10s alloy levers afaik. Only 1 (1998?) year production of record alloy levers in that shape and those were 9 speed. This is why the chorus alloy 10s levers fetch a lot of monies, they are basicly top of the line since record are out of the game in alloy.

Didn't know that (obviously) and yet I have a set of '99 Record carbon levers (doh !!) converted to 10. Are '98 9spd levers easily upgraded to 10? I was of the understanding that only '99+ were a simple swap and I've seen a few levers advertised as 10s Record alloy.

I believe you are correct about that. That they are idd not upgradable. I would think 10s record alloy could be achieved by "downgrading" carbon record 10 with the alloy blades perhaps?

Potato will know as per usual .)

When you are ready if you want to PM me with some photos I am interested.

Cannot easily. You 'can' swap all the innards but 1998 is unique as in 1999 the innards changed to accommodate Ergo-Brain..then to 10s in 2000.

It´s the fetish.. I believe Chorus had alloy levers while record was all carbon.
Truth is the carbon levers are .. better. Better in the cold, better when you are sweating.
I like retro. I like putting my money on preserving old stuff but the hype and snobbery for snobbery´s sake that comes w/ retro is a huge facepalm. Btw: the shape of the new 11sp levers is better looking and ergo than the 10 sp stuff. I have both.
Record alloy cranks are a step above chorus in aesthethic terms: less visual clutter means better design.

I like those curves on the 11sp levers.

10 speed is some of the best looking levers out there. No question, sorry colker.

I used to love the 10 speed fit but after ridding 11 now I think its much more ergonomic. I find the 10 speed shifters too small, the hook for your hand that is. They are both great though.
