I was just wondering if any others are on here? If you know who he is you know what I talking about.
I just remembered we have 10 years today.

And, congratulations on 10 years!!!

The first rule about Bill is never talk about Bill.

Now if you were asking about a Friend of Dorothy then we'd be off in a whole different direction.

Not per se - but I did stop drinking Thanksgiving 2015. After 6 months or so I had a beer, felt like sh*t physically, and decided to just give it up for good. It's hard at times when you feel like everyone else has their lives centered on drinking and you're the odd one out (beer garden after bike races anyone?), but I'm getting used to it and really, I don't want to have drinking buddies like I used to - I'd rather put my effort into real relationships that don't require altered states to be enjoyed. I never considered the "BW" route. Partly because I have no interest in the higher-power stuff, and partly because of where I was when I quit. If I'd recognized the bottom when I was in it from age 17-28...we'll, who knows...

If I met Bill, in a couple years I'd have saved enough money for a custom Kirk. Sobering thought.

Congratulations skiezo !

So, we're talking about frozen food here, right?

That is true. Since quitting drinking I've gone from 220lbs, stressed, out of shape, and generally miserable to 170lbs, mostly happy-go-lucky, and getting in better shape by the day. One thing leads to another - sometimes you just need the right kick in the @ss to set that wheel in motion..

I think I have outed myself before but if not...after years of addiction someone close to me got me help. That was in April of 1985. I've probably been clean longer than some of you have been alive. Say what you will but I owe everything I am now to Bill.

Im sorry if any of you blow anyones anonymity due to my post but im not concerned about mine anonymity as I am open about it.
I belong to a labor union and was contacted by our apprentice corridor about a substance abuse program as we have quite a few apprentices that find themselves in the same way I was years ago. I am the only one on the committee with first hand experience so I am the contact person. All I can do is share my experience strength and hope and be there if they want help.
I would not give up my way of life for anything today.
Coming from a life of drug and alcohol dependency I know what it was like than and what my life is like today. Life is great today.
I gonna step off my soapbox and enjoy another day clean and sober and go on another ride.

He's a very close friend of many members of my family. He and I are therefore passing acquaintances and I am forever in his debt.

Congrats to all who are keeping on one day at a time.
