PalClimb has conquered. Just riding is victory, I say, and we look forward to a report.

Our Finger Lakes Ramble meanwhile has been filled with friendship and all sorts of too much fun. A report to follow and nothing else in this thread!

Kudos to you, James!

If you go to the link I posted those numbers will make sense.

Climb was faster than last year (look at the 2005 results on that same site). We'll have to see how he feels the conditions were different and how his legs were. As I recall, his account following last year's endeavor was one of the best posts of the year.

It was the best post of the year by far.

Getting to the top of that beast twice is something to be proud of. I hope it was more 'fun' (or just satisfying?) the second time around.

Now take a year off and just go ride your bike for fun. If you get the itch, you can always try it again later.

So I'm huffing my way up Crawford Road yesterday and then I started laughing, thinking about how four Crawfords stacked up are that many miles but still about 1500' of climbing short and you rode up that on a cold day with a high wind.

Unreal. Amazing job, Climb.

There was a decent little climb near the end of Saturday afternoon's ride at the TdFL. It looked a lot worse descending it at the beginning than it actually did climbing it at the end, but it was the toughest climb that we saw, so anytime I felt in even the least little spot of bother I made a point to remind myself that Climb was, probably at that very moment, on some 15% slope on Mt. Washington. Made little Egypt Road hill (which, according to DeLorme averaged about 6% over about a mile and a half with nothing more than about 10%, and PLENTY of flatter spots to recover) seem pretty insignificant. Good perspective check. Thanks Climb :)

like ray, i've added to my vision of climbing the rock,
and the respect james and cohorts deserve ( i know, i
know, it's only bike riding...)

a couple of weeks ago i, and some team members
slugged it out up devil's kitchen in the catskills.
with a 25 i basically did power squats for two plus
miles. devil's is only one third (1/3!!) the length of the
road up mt. washington!

chapeau

Here's the beginning of the text on this website...

For years I have had a love affair with the sport of cycling. As a youth in my native Italy, I would cycle the hills of Bergamo reveling in the efforts of the climbs and the thrills of the rapid descents. As my skills improved, I went on to become a celebrated amateur racer, challenging my rivals at every opportunity. I still recall the many battles I fought with such well known riders as Felice Gimondi, always striving to improve my performance!

Yeah, but the 51-year-old was 2nd! Anyone ever hear of this Ned guy? I think he's got a future in cycling...

p.s. Congrats, James! Can't wait to hear your report. I agree - Last year's report was POTY!
