It's been a pretty interesting week. spent most of it in the sierras out west. beautiful country. there is never enough time to explore when i'm out that way, but i spent a full day rambling around yosemite. awesome out there.

the amount of water moving around norcal right now is nothing short of impressive. lots of washed out roads everywhere, high volume/velocity water moving with major gravity assist, etc.

amazing stuff.

today - took the kirk out for a nice mellow ride. position is almost dialed in. the jury is in - it's a keeper!

what have you folks been up to?

Nice shot of the falls and the bike!

I got out and enjoyed some sunshine and views on one of my favorite bikes.

2 days of rainy, cold (mid 40's), and windy racing here in Iowa City. Road race yesterday and crit today. Yesterday was probably the most uncomfortable i've even been on a bike. Shaking, cold, fingers don't work, can't squeeze a bottle, etc.

The forecast called for a total rainout of today's Miesville FiftySix ride but the wet stuff never really materialized -- and we were all happy about that!

Finally rode by these guys when they were near the fence, I don't go by them that often and they are usually off in the back. Too bad the babies are so big now, they were TINY when I first saw them.

Looks like we just broke out of the eternal rain here in Portland. Been getting in some laps in the mornings up on Tabor before work. Weeknight crit series is also up and running. It's a good time to ride a bike!

This ride was really fun and really difficult. I did it on 32mm compass tires and they did awesome. the other 3 "bikes" had motors and huge tires and made loud noises. i think they were shocked to see me climbing up there on a normal bike.
It started so polite:

Seriously, you take the turn to the right to get over the hill and to the lake.

then i took the highway home in a head wind. damn it!

fun ride on a nice day but also stupid as hell. only got off the bike to walk a 20ft rutted out section. my pedals kept hitting the edges of the road so i had to walk. at times i was going up so slowly my computer auto paused thinking i had stopped.:hello:
I got lost a few times and on one road i was rushing a bit on a downhill only to find there was a tree across it. i couldn't stop in time so i decided to bunny hop it. I cleared the majority of the tree, but one of the branches grabbed my back tire and slowed me down enough to cause me to sort of roll and flip. it was hilarious.
but i looked like this:
:D

I got rained out this weekend in Chicagoland, so I hit up the trainer again in the basement. I wasn't too happy about it either!!

Saturday was picture perfect. Did a local dirt loop around Moose Mountain. Saw the full spectrum of conditions for local dirt roads from glass smooth to soft/sandy to sections that could be mistaken for an x-games motorcycle course.

Sunday was supposed to be sunny. Turned out to be rainy, mid 40's. That one was less fun, but still a good route. So, can't really complain.

I rode my mountain bike both days. On Saturday I did a mellow ride with a couple opening efforts, then I raced Sunday at "The Battle at the Snake Den" (a cross country race in Rhode Island). I did the Sport/Cat 2 race and won my age group! There were only four people in my group but I'm still stoked. I've never won anything on a bike before. Super fun day. I'm the one on the left with the black/blue helmet and glasses.

I got up high in the Appalachians this weekend. It was actually too hot for April but nice ride anyway. Saturday I spent the day outside hunting for morel's but found none :(

I was on mine. At the rate that fatties are becoming more commonplace I see a day when the skinnier tired gravel bikes will look out of place. :P

Got out for 24 miles on my Rigormootis Saturday. First MTB ride of the season. Sunday was a full day of rain, so rest for me. Might do my first MTB race this coming Sunday depending on weather. Congrats to sandyrs on the MTB class win!!! Doesn't matter how many entered, you beat them all!!! Matt

Wanted to jump in that one but was working!

Today's my only day off so had to make it count despite the weather.

Found a cool shipping crate out in rock creek, any ideas of what's inside?

An hour and forty-five on Sunday, windy and hot. Like, 92-degrees-hot. The new Felt loves hammering in the saddle, though! Still a few kinks to work out with the fit. I tried a Salsa Cowchipper and I don't think it's for me; next is to try a "normal" set of bars.

Taking a dip part way through Coe Monstercross. 10,500' of elevation in 75 miles. It was a bruiser.
