This is probably a simple/dumb question but I have never seen a definitive answer. Campy shifters with Campy cables, do you use a shift cable ferrule where the cable enters the downtube cable adjuster?

It would 100% depend on the cable adjuster but every one I've encountered used one.

It's recommended to use ferrules. Mainly cause the wires in the housing will start to dig into the adjusters. Which of course will make it tough to turn the adjuster. If it's digging into the ferrule, the adjuster will move freely. I also use ferrules. And I put a bit of lube between the ferrule and cable stop or adjuster to keep things moving freely.

This and add a bit of grease inside the ferrule to keep the end of the cable housing from rusting.

And..to allow you to take the ferrule out of the cable stop..grease on ferrule.
