Adopted this little girl yesterday

Rescued in Puerto Rico

Cattle dog mix they think, but who knows for sure with shelter dogs...

Named her Diesel.

Nice. Nothing like a pup to get you out and moving. He looks like fun!

She is an absolute sweetheart.

Seems very smart. Not yet house broken but has managed to alert us to her needs all but twice in her first 24 hours. Learning to sit and come.

Teething will be a PIA as she loves my mocs and hiking boots.

I've got a new one on the way, will be picking it up in a few weeks.

Not a rescue, but a Brittany Spaniel from a breeder up in Central WA. Planning to name it Rainier unless that gets vetoed by the powers that be of course.

Haven't raised a puppy in 17 years (the last dog might as well have been immortal), should be fun.

PLEASE bring her to CX races this year.

He can join (and easily win!) the corgi race that absolutely needs to happen at some race this year.

@Bruce
As someone who is in the middle of raising a puppy (8 month old corgi!), the teething is one of the most frustrating aspects to deal with. We actually put one of those metal play pens around where the shoes are kept to prevent our pup from forming the habit of chewing shoes at a young age. Baby gates and limiting access to things you don't want her to chew on seemed to work well for us.

The white starts under her chin, runs along onto her chest and then does a half circle up the right side if her neck.

The white toes were on of the things that attracted us

We're keeping a close eye on her around shoes and gates are in use.

Right now she is sleeping on one of my shoes with her nose buried inside the other.

Cats sneak in to sniff when she is asleep. We'll get there...

I hadn't recognized the breed at first, but what you have on your hands there must be a white-toed loafer-eater. They're known for being intelligent and highly biddable, but your shoes are toast.

Really though, enjoy the pup.

If you make the course a highly technical one with tight curves, the lower center of gravity gives the corgi an advantage!

We had a corgi for many years, and when we was younger, we'd take him to the dog park, and while he simply couldn't keep up with the labs and golden retrievers in a straight line, he was always able cut them off when they changed direction.

I think the paceline needs a new puppy thread!

cool! that looks similar to the first dog I had as a kid, Buck.

He was notorious for escaping his kennel and organizing a roaming band of neighborhood bullies.

He was also adept at lifting girls' skirts to get a sniff of their pieces and bits.

Man, I loved that dog.

Congrats! Let's hope this fella is better behaved ;~)
