Thought some of you might be interested...

We just got our first kit 2007 Campy Record kit. It's for photos and the only one we could get a hold of, so I don't know about mass availability.
The crankset is pretty cool for sure. Mechanically pretty simple and it looks as though it's easy to install and maintain. Finish quality is good and it's lightweight.
The brake calipers are neat looking and the rear, single pivot caliper is decidedly lighter than anything else I've felt short of the Zero Gravity stuff, from which Campy has obviously taken some design cues.
The shifter pods don't look any different outwardly, but I'm told there have been some internal revisions that make shift quality a little better.

Andrew should be posting some pictures and we'll give more feedback once we have a chance to do some building and riding with this new kit.

Wait until January and have your scumbag boss ask you to go out for a ride and try some new stuff. Not this tropical baby, atmo.

Some of it has popped up on ebay already, I don't think we'll have to wait 'till Janurary to get our hands on it. I've set aside some "loose change" for a gruppo, looks like the Legend will be getting a makeover...or maybe an HSG...

New shifters are required for the new gruppo or if an existing FD will work with the new cranks?

The new quick shift (QS) left shifter works with a matching QS FD.

The cranks will work with any double FD and shifters.

Us triple users got left out. Maybe next year. Until then it's still FSA.

So you can keep your existing ergo shifters and front der unless you want the new shifters and new front dr?

Too confusing. What would be different in the front dr that would require a new shifter or visa versa?

Yes, you can keep all the old parts, and just add a new crank and bb if you wish.

The rotation of the front shifter lever has been shortened, so the geometry of the
front derailleur has been changed to work with less cable pull, yet still move
the proper amount for a shift.

The arm that moves the cage is more "upright" on the new derailleur (top photo)
than the older derailleur, bottom photo.

Everything else in the 2007 drivetrain is the same. the cogs, chain, cassette,
rear derailleur, rear shifter, and chainrings keep the same part numbers
and specs. Only the arms, bb and the front der and front shifter change.

Sorry for all the questions...just getting my arms around this ground-breaking stuff

nope, no new front der is required in your "old" system.

The new cranks will slide right into your 10sp drivetrain.

The only thing that requires a new front der, is the new front shifter.

Hey guys this is great. Love the look of the Record Crank. From what I read appears no problem to replace my older Record non-ct crank with the new 2007 CT crank. Originally I had held off on the Carbon Crank knowing the new Campy group was coming.

Anyone have an idea on how many bills this will cost?

The 2007 pricelist I've got shows the price for cranks+bb about the same
as the old stuff, maybe up about $50 from the '06.

Does anyone know if the spindle on the Record crankset is titanium?

I noticed that the spindle looks different on the Record and Chorus sets.

Thanks G.... guess that puts it around $450. If I change out my crank, it would be until winter 2007. Perhaps prices will adjust... nah

more than that, 'cause it includes the BB.

I don't have the best handle on USA retails, but the '06 cranks seem to be
about $429ish + 120ish for the bb. The new 2007 ones should likely be $579 ish.

Would you need to replace the old BB (to go with the new crank) or can you transfer the 2006 Record BB?

The new crank system replaces the BB too, so your 2006 is out.

The 2007 bb axle is permanently attached to the arms,
take another look at the photos. The BB/Arms is a complete set.

Anyone know if the new cranks have a single or mixed bcd ?

Bwoe, the carbon ct cranks, had 4 110bcd holes and one 112bcd hole.
the alloy cranks had 5 110bcd holes.

Me, I like the cheap alloy Veloce cranks, they look better than the carbon.
Maybe Campy should get some retirees in to do a hi-polished Record alloy
group, call it Super Record ?

Man, I was thinking this just the other day. Why not have basically the 03 chorus group dressed up with 05 record alloy cranks and brakeset? Call it Super Record or Record Classico, I don't care. Surely there's a market for traditional looking stuff. Hmmm, come to think of it there is... ebay.

I'm down with that, put my order in for a couple of grouppos.
