Can anyone recommend a (battery or rechargeable) tail light that mounts on a fender?
The PDW Fenderbot (https://ridepdw.com/products/fenderbot?variant=24753691521) is not as bright as the excellent Radbot, so I'm looking for alternatives. NOT looking for jewelry (http://www.somafab.com/archives/product/edison-tail-light) here, just something functional.

I know the Secula dyno light gets great reviews.

Looks like there's a battery version too.

Steve, I bet you could fab up a mount of of some aluminum stock pretty easily and use the light of your choice. Just a thought

I use the Pixeo on a couple bikes. It's small, but the beam is shaped effectively for a fender light.

if you bought a radbot and a fenderbot, could you simply swap their guts?

maybe, though the Secula and Pixeo might be good to go.

IMO, the Secula light in general has the most pleasant beam to look at. Trust me, I should know, I'm always behind people during brevets. :D

The Velo Lumino fender taillight (http://www.velolumino.com/at-fender-taillight.html) is also really cool but pricey

Pixeo seems nice and offers a battery option. but there's no blinking mode (may or may not matter to you) and no details on how bright it is. so...may be just as powerful as the Fenderbot...?

The fenderbot is way better than the alternatives from Spanninga, and it's much better constructed, too. AFAIK it's the best fender mounted battery tail light you can get right now. The fact that it has a flashing mode is an added bonus.

I've got a Pixeo. It sucks compared to the Fenderbot. What's more, there was something about it that caused two sets of SKS plastic fenders to crack around the light in a fairly short period of time - something the older Spanniga never did.

No, less bright. Last year I upgraded the Pixeo and all the other Spanninga lights on a bunch of my bikes to Fenderbots after one of the old lights failed in the middle of a brevet. Fortunately, I had mounted an extra light on a seat stay for the occasion, so I was able to shrug off the failure.

interesting. I also read some reviews that the Pixeo units have inconsistent quality.

Do you know how the Secula battery light compares in brightness with the Fenderbot?

I like my Secula. It only lasted a few years (maybe 3 or 4?) before I had to replace it, in case that matters to you.

I asked PDW if I could swap light guts out. They asked me, incredulously, "why?". And then said it couldn't be done.

I ride with a couple guys that have a secula, and it's a real nice light to use when riding with others. Not really eye-searingly bright, but it has a nice wide area that emits the light, instead of a small single point on light.

I have a fenderbot on this bike. It's better than nothing, but it isn't very bright. Here's a daylight photo with the light on. The light is on top, with bottom lens being just a reflector.

I picked up a Secula battery light. It's a nice looking unit, not too big or too small. Steady no flash. Just about right.

Of course, you're looking at that light off axis and the LED is rather directional. It's a whole lot brighter when you're behind it, as a car would be.

I like them. They are long and durable. The profile is thin&shallow...no rolled edges, so they offer clearance where thicker fenders don't. My one complaint is that the fender is a touch short forward of the front fender mount, so this fender best when mounted on the front side of the fork crown as opposed to the aft side of the crown.
