Man I did 50 miles yesterday and all was good. I set out today and the rear shifting was messed up. I could not get past about halfway down the cassette. The shifter felt a bit clunky.

I am wondering if a cable housing cracked under the tape and is hanging up the cable. I could pull the cable under that down tube and it seems like it would be a but better.

Split housing, broken cable strands at shifter, mucked up under B.B. Guide. Which shifter?

Kind of a real bummer. I replaced them last year when I got the bike and these have some miles but really nothing remarkable. I used to run cables much longer.

So that little plastic piece is broken. I the shifter toast?

11s shifter? Broken strands breaking plastic guide that goes into shifter(?). If it's got a part number it can be sourced.

Yes 11s 105. That would be good.

This happens quite often on my son's Shimano 6800. I have to check his shift cables often. Once they start to fray shifting gets very wonky. If it breaks the button on the cable end can fall into the mechanism. It can be a real joy to fish out.

There was a guy selling many small parts including this one, I think, on eBay very recently.

These?

With the propensity that these seem to eat cables I would think these would be pretty easy to source parts.

My kids bike has 11 105... gonna have to check that cable quite often then.

Yes 11s 105. That would be good.
