Headed up there next weekend. Wondering if I should bring my road bike or gravelbike.

Anyone know of any good rides in the area?

Thx!

Man, we were staying in Calistoga last October in our trailer - the rides are endless. Fantastic riding, bring your climbing legs. I have a friend that lives in Santa Rosa and I look at his rides on Strava.

One ride I did went down 128, by a hospital, up to Howell Mt, over to Pope Valley, down Chiles Pop Valley Rd by Lake Hennesey and back. Wow, wonderful ride.

Some climbs were very long and a little scary because they had sharp, blind corners. I felt vulnerable sometimes.

There's a nice bike shop in Calistoga that can give you local info.

Have a great ride,
Murph

Chad used to live up there!

Geysers is killer. Pine Flat is rad. Cruising out towards the coast is a no-brainer, too. Pope Valley+Mr. Clif's hill is a gem. Mt. Veeder is a BLAST. You really can't go wrong up there. Road conditions suck. Your GT-1 with the Sectors at a cushy 60PSI would be money atmo.

Very nice people nearby that speak bicycles, good food, espresso & wine: http://www.cliffamily.com/cycling-adventures/. A little slice of Italy... Prego!

Thanks Nate!

I actually sold off the Sectors with the tubeless wheels they were on. :( Swapped them out for some slightly used 3.4 discs with Clement MSO's that I got a killer deal on.

Running those off-road mostly with Latex tubes. So far so good though! :)
