We had a velodrome start and abruptly stop on the Western side of the state, as apparently the owner didn't think that he needed to address building regulatory guidelines. Same folks...World Cycling League...appears that they were involved at a sanctioning level. It's been very difficult to get accurate updates regarding the track's progress.

We had an outdoor velodrome in Chicago near the old South Slip. The guy spearheading the effort (Marcus Moore of Yojimbo's Garage) had difficulty keeping it funded, and it closed last year.

Velodromes are pretty specialized facilities, requiring more than the typical commitment to keep going. If you've got the space and the fudging, an indoor velodrome gives you year-round racing, which certainly helps.
