OK,

I have a spare wheelset that came with the Moots MTB I bought from Ari (Akelman) I don't have any plans to use them so I am wondering what the may be worth. I don't keep up with MTB pricing and I know 26" stuff is a dinosaur.

They are in fantastic shape:

CK silver 32H hubs 6 bolt (I guess)
Stans ZTR 355 rims
Black DB spokes silver nips
New Ice Tech 160mm rotors
Spec. Ground Control 26 x 2.1 tires
Tubeless
Weight as shown 1820G R 1680G F

What say you MTB guru's

Thanks,
Jeff

As a 26 inch wheelset, probably not much. As a hubset, probably a lot more..

detension, cut out the hubs, make the rims into a windmill and sell the hubs.

Or maybe someone with an Elephant NFE or Crust Romanceur is looking for a 26" wheelset. I'm assuming it's an 8/9/10 Shimano freehub, but people will want to know. I really don't know what they'd be worth to a buyer who can use them.

The hubs are worth a good $225 at least, and more if the driveshell is steel instead of aluminium. They are still good for today's MTB drivetrains. CK makes various axles for them.

But you might get just as much if you put the wheels up on eBay. People still ride their 26' MTBs.

I would post them on https://www.pinkbike.com/
Few still riding 26ers.

If you think they are worthless send them my way. I'll cover the freight.

I'd take them off your hands if they were for rim brakes. Nice wheelset even if they are dated. Have to be worth $250-$300.

Easily worth that or more with the rotors and tires. Check e-Bay recent sales.

Yeah, nice hubs for sure. Depending on how you define worthless, I'd be interested in using 'em for a 29er build. PM me if you want.

I have a number of 26" mountain bikes and don't plan on getting rid of them anytime soon. I'm definitely not alone. It's gotten to the point where certain parts are actually not going cheap as they are fairly scarce now.

As others suggested, I think you will maximize your value by cutting out the spokes and then selling:

Tires
rotors
hubs

Make the rims into coat hangers.

The Used Bike Parts Hustle is so weird.
