Now that we have ebikes isn´t a human powered bike obsolete? Get with the times: brake faster w/ disc brakes and climb faster w/an electric engine.

I heard Google is working on a new virtual-reality bike forum where you can choose the level of trolling you prefer and never have to actually interact with another human...just an algorithm that prefers old steel bikes and tubulars...oh wait...are any of YOU human? Nevermind, don't break the 4th wall...

So.. a 4 page thread asking if canti brakes are totally obsolete is NOT trolling and a play on the nature of our cycling buying obsession is trolling?
C´mon: don´t take yourself too seriously. We are just old guys w/ a compulsive bike buying habit. Trust me: it is silly.

You can seriously discuss when someone asks if canti brakes are "totally" obsolete but read in horror about the possibility we party on a pompous obsessive niche?

Yes, I think so. The site doesn't get much traffic any more: https://www.cyclingforums.com/.

They may be obsolete for me. If I decide they are I will leave without being a dick

I am not trying to be a Dick but you are maybe being Dense. Again: grab a sense of humour. It costs nothing.

Some of us are young guys with a compulsive bike buying habit.

And some of us have been so steeped in Seinfeld-era sarcasm that we can't help ourselves... I should pretty much always type in purple.

Was meant to be funny - I'm fully in love with the "old-guy" stuff here, or I'd spend my precious clicks elsewhere.

As a troglodyte I think cycling forums are pretty edgy
