Can anyone recommend an FM radio with a speaker for use on the bike?
I miss the local FM station when I'm out riding.
Looking for something compact, rechargeable and self-contained, with good reception on the far left of the band.
I tried an Ivation that I came across on eBay. Cheap, bad reception, and it went belly-up after two months (works but only gets three stations, none of them of interest to me).
Anything?

Do you use a smart phone on your rides? Why not just get a blue tooth speaker and pair it with yr phone and use the radio from there.

plum pal, I don't have any direct experience except one of the pals I ride with regularly during our lunch rides carries a bluetooth speaker. It's weather-proof and loud once he turns up the volume. But ersonally, I don't like the form factor., it's pretty big. He bought it from Best Buy a while ago and I think he paid too much for it. There are probably better options out there now. A quick google search:

One of my pet peeves is riding by someone with those speakers blasting. I get it. You like music. Be courteous and just use an ear bud. :)

My smart phone is pretty basic TracFone. No Bluetooth; FM requires a cable to speakers or buds.
Personally hate anything in my ears. Equally hate it when people I ride with have the damned things in their ears and can't hear me - or anything else.
iPod Nano is more $$ that I wanted to part with. Then again, my Apple stock is doing fairly well.
Thanks.
Oh...Louis. I did the Ride To Rippey with some RAGBRAI lovin' friends in '03. One of the group had a monster boom box in a BOB trailer. Along with a 40 quart Coleman cooler full of beer.
Last I saw of the guy was when they brought him back from the hospital with a broken collarbone and a ton of road rash.

Surely there is something out there, but you are ruling out all of the easy options. You are kind of asking for 21st century conveniences using only 20th century tech.
I have a Sangean DT-250. Love it.
Uses two AA. You could use re-chargeable batteries.
It comes with a clip on the back. I suppose you could modify that clip if you wanted to create a mounting point on your bars, or similar.

Checkout Sound Matters. soundmatters.com I have one with the bicycle mount. Not bluetooth but cable model. Might be what you're looking for.

The Sangean line looks like it might have something to offer.
Thanks.
