I like to peruse google maps for new routes, and invariably end up looking at my own house, places I've been, etc. I also love to see how old the images are. For example, we put in a pol about four years ago, and I think it took two years for the map to update to show it.

I've noticed the resolution is definitely a step down from what it used to be.

Anybody else notice this? Is it a government thing? Anybody know?

I haven't noticed any decrease in resolution in places that I look at routinely.

In the past I've noticed different quality of images in different locations, based on the age of the satellite imagery for that particular place. Especially more rural areas, which tended to have older image sets. I don't know if that's changed.

For some reason at work the google maps satellite images take a long time to load, but the same google images on RidewithGPS load just fine, and they load just fine at home. I assume there's some sort of network filter causing a problem at work.

I noticed that at some point the images showed up all cartoony. Found an option for something like "image smoothing" or something. Deselect that and you get the sat images again.

I notice an image quality difference between the website and the app. I find better quality images on the app.

Well, I know when I look at like my driveway and yard, it's all fuzzy where it used to be clear. I haven't checked on my pc, this is just on my iPad.

Just curious if it was only me.
