Nothing fancy, but it does put a face and place to Boyd Wheels. A small American business that feels worth supporting:

So they're just a wheel assembly company then? I thought they made stuff at those prices...

Thanks for the love guys!

We do have the manufacturing of the parts happen in other places than our headquarters. We design the rims and hubs (with the exception of the White Industries). We have spokes come from Belgium (Sapim CX Ray spokes). Hubs and rims come from both Taiwan and China. . .and California for the White Industries.

Everything comes to our facility here in Greenville where we do all the QC, wheel building, warehousing, and shipping.

Let me know if you have any questions about what we do!

I thought they made stuff at those prices...they're more expensive than they used to be a few years back, but still a helluva bargain. and they use very high quality components. which can't always be said for some of the big boys (looking at you, Zipp). and they build wheels a helluva lot better than their direct competitors (looking at you, November).

incredible company too. best customer service you'll ever get.

Hrm. My team does a group wheel buy at Boyd. New aero toys might be in my future!

Boyd rims are berry nice and berry sexy. If you've ever ridden both a $6000 wheelset and a decent China rim (Gigantex), you'll realize Boyd is legit.

Profile is definitely proprietary and A E R O:

$6000 dollar wheelset! That's a good one.
I have 6 bikes, and I might have over $6,000 into all of them.

I'll take the $600 dollar "Hand Crafted in the USA" wheelset from oldspud any day!

and some people think you are crazy for having 6 bikes and $6000 worth of bikes. YMMV and this is a bike forum

While you certainly aren't going to ever go wrong with those, Boyd also does wheels with aluminum rims starting at $500 a set.

Should of spent more time on the site! Got lost in the carbon daze.

Yes, great customer service! Just had a wheelset this month built up with Altamont lite rims, Tune hubs, CX Ray spokes. Have an older Boyd Altamont wheelset used hard CX and gravel grinds still in service. Have 11 bikes, 14 wheelsets, Boyd hubs are one of the smoothest hubs I own.

I know some people think my bike fetish is crazy, but imagine what they would say if I told them one wheelset was $6,000! Of course it's a bike forum or we wouldn't be talking about Boyd wheels would we.:)

Boyd stuff is IMO the best value per dollar for new carbon wheels out there currently. They are a bit more expensive than when they started out, but they also aren't using open mold designs anymore. It's all designed in house and manufactured to a very high standard overseas.

Very hard to beat for the money. My only gripe is that I prefer the stealth look and the new options have the base decals under clear - but that's a very small complaint.

Chappeau to Boyd and his team for his success with a grass roots operation. :hello::beer:

Have 11 bikes, 14 wheelsets . . . .

This means you need three more bikes to match the wheelsets.

I'll take the $600 dollar "Hand Crafted in the USA" wheelset from oldspud any day!I was gonna say the two are 100% equal in this regard, considering that both use (similar) parts from all over and hand build wheels in the states. but Boyd is cheating now with those machines that set the initial spoke tension. for shame! ;)

I think it's to not have any nipples lost in the rim:D.

Considering the time to install spokes in hub, then placing in zillion $ machine, to lace..not sure it takes that much less time. I'd think a crew of HS kids could do it for less $..but I'm a one-at-a-time teeny wheelbuilder by comparison. :)

I had the same thought, especially since the guy still has to manually load the spokes into the hub and cross them correctly as he feeds them into the nippleizer.

I guess my wheels aren't handbuilt since I use a clapped out old Makita drill to do my initial nipple twisting.
