Salsa Skewers disassembly

HI, Looking to swap out some Salsa fat bike style skewers with longer shafts, over to a set with shorter road length ones. Reason is pure vanity as the color I want isn't available on the road combo and trying to pimp out my Moots.

Has anyone taking Salsa Skewers apart? Can the shafts be swapped safely? They look to be just threaded, but hard to tell from photo's.

The skewer shaft is threaded into the cam end. They come apart. There is threadlocker in there so a bit of hairdrier heat may help get the apart.
