While looking for some photos from NAHBS I hear this was on display by The Pros Closet.

never seen a rim setup like that before! wonder how they do that? i guess they attach the two rims together somehow and then some arrangement so tires can fit off center of the rims. wonder how it rides.

do love the elevated chain stays. cannot understand why more bikes don't have those, particularly belt drive bikes.

In case folks don't know, these dual rim/tire set-ups were the precursor to what fat bikes have become. Folks in AK and CO (and others cold/snowy locations) were experimenting with ways to stay on top of the snow. The iditarod was certainly an event that had tinkers tinkering.

Indeed these bikes were developed for the Iditabike/ididtarod which was a bike version of the famous dogsled race.

No chain slap neither clearance problem with that chainstay design, wonder about shoe clearance tho. Never seen that double rim wheels, I think they look great, do they bolt those rims together 1st before lacing the wheel so the rims work as a one unit?

I recall the first time seeing one and being educated on how much it costs to get a new size tire made.
