View Full Version : Sold: Zanconato MAX frameset ~58cm

There is absolutely no good reason for me to sell this. It is an amazing frame. Never crashed. But I have an obsessive need (a disorder my wife might say) to try new things every few years and move on to new projects... including bike builds. This one has to go so I can fund my next project. If Mike ever gets into ti, that will be my next new bike purchase. Crossing my fingers

Commissioned and built in 2013. Its a tig-welded Zanconato Columbus MAX frameset (main tubes are MAX, I need to look up what Mike used for the stays). Includes a painted Enve fork. I had the frame and fork completely refinished in 2016. Size is roughly a 58cm, but please see the frame geo sheet for specifics. While some of the pics here show a complete bike, this listing is for the frame, ENVE fork, BB cups, headset, and seat collar only. Stay tuned for another listing for the Chorus group, Ritchey bars, stem, post, and a few other things. I'm keeping the wheels. Key points:

- Saddle height as pictured is 77.5 cm

- Finish: Very hard to describe, but its beautiful...very deep high-gloss. Its basically a black base coat, then an intermediate clear coat with silver-aluminum metal flake, then another clear coat over that. In the shade it looks like a high gloss black...with a silver shimmer around the edges. At night when a light shines on it...it has this kind of bass-boat black disco thing going on. In direct sunlight...its an all out 80's space-galaxy party. In the morning light it has kind of a misted gray effect over the black. I've tried to capture it as best I can in the pictures.

- Logos: For the refinish I took a slightly different approach. Rather than have a solid painted logo or decal under the clear coat I opted for some auto-grade vinyl...because I like to switch things up, this gives me the ability to change logo color any time. Also, these logos have an awesome metallic finish to them as you can see in the pics. Something not as easy to accomplish with a painted logo. Again, this is auto-quality vinyl...very smooth edge transition, very durable and looks great. I like this approach because if you ever get the urge to do say a light blue logo (which would look killer), its very easy to switch out. In fact...I'll include an alternate color Zanconato logo of your choice with the sale (a friend used to run a vinyl business and he cuts them for me)

Condition. I'd say 9 out of 10. There are a few small scratches as follows. noted as accurately as I can (see the set of pics after the main pictures): 1) very tiny nick on the TT, near the seat cluster. 2) Underside of TT there are two chips side by side, about 3mm long. 3) very small area of cable rub on each side of heat tube where cables touch 4) left chain stay, near the bottom there is a small scratch area 5) just above the drop out where the seat stay is brazed on, there are a few small chips. 6) The typical chain stay scratch under where the chain ring would be...due to a total bonehead move on my part -I rushed the front der setup prior to the maiden ride and then had a little chain suck.

$1400 + shipping (for Frame, Fork, CK headset) We will split paypal fees.

Even though I am not in the market, I always feel a bit weakened when I see a bike that would fit me perfectly. If I was to change my custom frame, it would be to these specs.

This is a gorgeous frame!!

I love the MAX frame I have (Bernardi), the ride is like nothing else. If you suddenly decide to offer this at a giveaway price, let me know. Otherwise, it's just another beautiful bike I can't afford... :-(

So glad that worked out for you. I've been meaning to ask a follow up.

As for the current frame for sale? Awesome.

If I am not mistaken, I have this bike's twin (or this bike is in my garage). And it is spectacular.

Weight as pictured?

Weight as pictured?

I have no idea. I haven't weighed my bikes for years. If I were to guess, somewhere between 17 and 18 pounds. A good friend also on the forum has a 54cm version of this exact same Zanconato frame, with a Record group, Bora tubulars, and Deda cf post and stem. 16 lbs. So maybe add a pound or two for the slightly larger frame and Chorus instead of Record group.
