Hello All:
Here are a few pics of my completely anachronistic Schwinn Paramount. 60th anniversary Match-built frame. 1984 Waterford Paramount fork. Mostly 1999 Campy record drive train except for the 7400 cranks (165mm) and seat post. Chrome stem was built for another bike by Dan Wynn in Seattle. 28mm tires. Prismatic Illusion Copper powdercoat. Velocals for a 1972 Paramount. Probably should have waited for a day with brighter sun to pop the finish but here it is.
Cheers,
Jim

Wow, labor of love there with the re-paint and parts collecting. I dig your style on this one and those match frames are pretty legit if you can find one.

Glorious! Thanks for showing us.

The paint and decals are a masterpiece, but also, I admire that you're not afraid to mix components.

Thanks! Yes it is a labor of love with roots in my childhood. And, yes, is it a sweet frame, probably my favorite riding frame of any I can remember. It seemed a little quick steering the first time I rode it but from then on it has steered as if it could read my mind.
Cheers,
Jim

Thanks! Regarding mixing components, I had thought of using wheels with 7400 hubs and a shiftmate as well.

Jim

Who did the powder? What was the clear coat used? The shoreline definition that was preserved is pretty. . . pretty good.

Thanks Colonel. The powdercoat was done by the Powder Keg in Salt Lake City. They did a great job with all threads and other surfaces nicely masked. Fork was chromed by a local Harley customizing shop.
More on the finish here: http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=199271

Sweet. Very nice finish. I mixed Campy gear with a D/A crank forever, not bad aesthetically and functionally great.

Beautiful, and very elegant and tasteful.
The carbon levers, white perforated tape, Nokon cables, etc., are all those "minor" touches that really help a build "pop".
Well done.

There used to be a great post about Match Bicycles on-line. It was a great idea while it lasted. Several outstanding frame builders working with first-class equipment.

When I took the Paramount to Powder Keg I also took along a Trek 950 I bought at a garage sale for $15. Here is how it turned out. In all I'm out about $300 including paint job, mustache bars, seat post, fenders, and stem. The rest of the build is from the original or from my parts bin. The stem extender is a cheap-o but I had it powdercoated too and it doesn't look so bad. Yes, those are Modolo Morphos shifters and they work fine with the LX 7sp.

It puts the mustache bars where I want them. Its one of those $9 Sunlight extenders. I put an o-ring on the stem to help seal it. Not sure what you're asking.

whats up with that head tube extension
